artist statement

My works represent the feelings I got when I was wandering and exploring the ocean at Maldives, Malaysia. It was a mixture of pain that I got from the sea creatures and beauty of the scenery.
The fundamental stage of my work is thinking about colors. Turquoise, blue, green and black are the most common colors on my palettes. Black is a color that seems to be the most painful to me. While the pastel toned colors of turquoise, green and blue can represent the charm of the gigantic sea. Other than that color, form and composition are very important to me. I accommodate both curves and sharp edges/lines into my work. Sharp edges and lines express pain and curves represent the smoothness of the waves.
